An Inside Look at the Final Year of Construction

worcester city manager views the building design through his phone on the construction site of Doherty High

As we enter into the final year of building construction for the Doherty Memorial High School project, we have had the opportunity to bring people onto the construction site and through the building to see the progress and learn more about what they can expect when the school opens in 2024. Site improvements construction will continue through 2025.

We hosted tours for the Worcester City Manager’s office and his staff, as well as the Worcester School Committee, District Superintendent, and her staff in recent weeks, all of whom had the chance to see both the progress to date and the vision for the final design through virtual reality renderings. You can also see those designs here:  https://lpaa.com/doherty-virtual-walk-through/

We had also previously welcomed a group of alumni from Leadership Worcester, and members of the Central Massachusetts Chapter of the AIA and Worcester County Construction Specifications Institute for a continuing education program. Additionally, as part of our ongoing Living Lab educational initiative, we have had many students, both high school and college-age, and statewide educators come through the construction site throughout the process to learn about design and construction and the wide array of careers in these industries that make a new building of this size possible.
