Groundbreaking for Doherty Memorial High
On November 3, city and state officials gathered at the site of Worcester’s new Doherty Memorial High School to celebrate the start of construction on this significant project with a groundbreaking ceremony. LPA|A began working on the design for the school in 2019 and anticipates a 2024 opening. The new school will be 420,000 square feet and is designed for an enrollment of 1,670 students.
Among the remarks made at the event:
“When I saw the designs for the new Doherty I was stunned. It’s amazing. It’s like one of the colleges we have here. It is going to be a treasure for the community.”
State Representative John J. Mahoney
“I want to congratulate the folks here for putting together the team that you did: Tishman, Lamoureux Pagano, Fontaine Brothers and Dimeo. I knew this project was going to go swimmingly.”
Jack McCarthy, Executive Director, Massachusetts School Building Authority
