Young woman from Eureka! program looks through phone at construction site seeing rendering over actual unfinished constructionLPA|A welcomed about a dozen 10th grade girls to the office last week from the Girl’s Inc Eureka! Program, so they could learn about the architecture and construction industries and even walk through the Doherty High construction site for a first-hand and up-close look at the project underway.

The Eureka! Program is a year-round, five-year program that offers opportunities for middle and high school girls to explore careers in STEM fields, operated by Girls Inc in Worcester. LPA|A has been a long-time supporter of Girls Inc and staff have volunteered their time in support of their mission in various ways over the years. LPA|A staff, including Christina Bazelmans, Corinna Javier, and Meghan Vincent all participated and facilitated the day of learning, eager to share their expertise and encourage the young women to consider a career path in this industry.

The girls were able to experience the Doherty project through a virtual reality rendering that was visually synced to the construction site they were viewing. They asked thoughtful questions throughout the day and one girl even suggested returning to the site as the project progressed to gain further insight about the process.
