Holy Cross Breaks Ground on a New Contemplative Center
As part of a blessing and ceremonial groundbreaking on April 16, Holy Cross President Rev. Philip L. Boroughs, S.J., announced plans for constructing a new contemplative center, named The Thomas P. Joyce ’59 Contemplative Center, in honor of the late Mr. Joyce, a former trustee of Holy Cross.
Lamoureux Pagano & Associates (LPA) is the Architect of this $22 million retreat center, which is being designed in conjunction with William J. Masiello Architect, Inc.
Situated around a beautiful, cloister-like setting, The Center will be constructed on a 52-acre site within the Wachusett Reservoir watershed and will overlook the reservoir. The 33,800-square-foot complex will include a chapel, meeting rooms and a dining room and overnight quarters for 60 people. The opening is scheduled for the fall of 2016.
