World War I Memorial Dedicated on Veteran’s Day
On November 11, 2013, a new World War I Memorial was dedicated to honor the eight servicemen from Shrewsbury who gave their lives, as well as the 104 other townspeople who served during the war.
Lamoureux Pagano Associates and John Masiello contributed design and project management services for the granite monument that replaced the badly deteriorated concrete structure presented to the town in 1924 in front of the Beal Early Childhood Center. The building, originally the local high school, was named in honor of Major Howard Beal, one of the local servicemen killed in the war and honored by the Memorial.
