Michael Oldakowski Named Building Envelope Technology Director
Longtime staff member Michael Oldakowski has been promoted to Building Envelope Technology Director. Mike has developed proficiency in the design of buildings’ exterior envelopes over his 36 years in the field of architecture.
Mike has been a critical member of the team on countless projects, including Worcester’s Doherty Memorial High School currently under construction. Recently Mike was a featured speaker at a tour through the Doherty construction site hosted by the Central Massachusetts Chapter of the American Institute for Architects (AIA) and the Worcester chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI).
In an effort to share some of Mike’s accumulated knowledge and practical experience across the office, he also leads a practice group to advance their understanding of exterior envelope design. Staff members meet multiple times throughout the year to discuss best practices for designing and detailing exterior envelope assemblies. These discussions aim to ensure the building’s weather-tightness and compliance with energy codes.
“Mike’s expertise is a resource that everyone at LPA|A values, said LPA|A Managing Director Rick Lamoureux. “As standards for energy efficiency and sustainability have become more stringent, a properly designed building envelope has become even more critical. Mike is incredibly knowledgeable and is always keeping up with changing requirements and technologies.”
