Exterior Envelope Detailing Group Starts Up

LPA|A Associate Principal Mike Oldakowski has developed proficiency in the design of buildings’ exterior envelopes over his 36 years in architecture. As standards for energy efficiency and sustainability become more stringent, a properly designed building envelope is even more critical. Proper sealing of the exterior to prevent air leaks, exterior building details that prevent water penetration and appropriate insulation all impact the building’s efficiency, as well as the health, safety and general experience of the environment for occupants.

In an effort to share some of Mike’s accumulated knowledge and practical experience across the office, he leads a practice group to advance their understanding of  exterior envelope design. Staff meet several times throughout the year for discussions about how to improve energy efficiency through the use of proven materials and effective detail practices.
