Core Value for 55 Years: Dedicated to Achieving Your Goals
“Given our long relationship with LPA|A, their incredibly efficient designs, the quality of their work, their highly cooperative nature and leadership ability, I can only assume that this relationship with continue for many years to come.” This quote from Henry Fitzgerald as chair of the Shrewsbury School Building Committee in 2015 is one of the firm’s favorites, and his prediction was correct: the firm began work on their Beal Elementary School two years later.
The relationship between LPA|A and the Town of Shrewsbury spans more than 30 years, beginning with the design of their Floral Street Elementary School in the mid-1990’s, and is something the firm takes great pride in.
“We measure our success by the relationships that we are able to cultivate with our clients over years and decades,” said Principal Peter Caruso. “We know that happy clients return when the opportunity presents itself, and we are always grateful when they do.”
The core value of “dedicated to achieving your goals,” has been fundamental to how the firm operates since its inception 55 years ago. LPA|A leadership, starting with founder Dick Lamoureux wanted to create an architectural firm that would be truly collaborative and could make a positive difference in Central Massachusetts.
“From the beginning, the way my father worked was to involve the whole firm during the design phase, soliciting ideas from across the office,” said Managing Director Rick Lamoureux. “We are still building on that legacy today, staying responsive to owners’ needs and objectives as well as budget and time constraints, to create unique designs that reflect that collaboration with each client.”
Another example of a client with whom the firm has developed a long-standing relationship is Worcester State University. The building needs of a college campus can be varied in size and scope, so serving as on-call architect for a school like WSU means taking on projects across potentially any building type, and with a public university, meeting schedule and budget are of the utmost importance.
“Over the past decade, Lamoureux Pagano has provided excellent specifications and drawings for dozens of projects throughout our campus building portfolio,” said Sandra Olson, Assistant Vice President for Facilities Operations and Planning for Worcester State. “LPA|A’s ability to translate programming intent into vibrant, ingenious and elegant experiences has transformed various student, faculty, and staff spaces which has thereby progressively improved the quality of use of our campus facilities.”
“Their design for our renovation/expansion is both smart and beautiful,” said former Shrewsbury Library Director Ellen Dolan. “If you look at the variety of their work you see that they evaluate the needs of each individual customer and come up with a design that works for the specific situation. Although our building is quite elegant, our project is about $2 million under budget right now. As you can imagine, town officials are extremely happy.”
As LPA|A celebrates 55 years in business in Central Massachusetts taking a moment to reflect on kind words like these from clients in Shrewsbury and across the region, provides an opportunity to recommit to the core values that make for happy clients.
