Clark Project Recognized with Silver Hammer Award
The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce presented Clark University with a Silver Hammer Award for the Michelson Theater project, which re-opened last Fall after an extensive renovation. The award is given out each year to recognize renovation projects in the region which bring new life to older buildings.
The building first opened in 1967 as a student dining hall, but within ten years was being reconfigured for their arts programs, including the addition of the Michelson Theater. Over the years, many original elements had been lost as the building was adapted from a dining hall to a theater space. Clark brought on LPA|A to help reimagine their Michelson Theater and modernize the space, while maintaining the unique, architecturally expressive, and open design of the original building.
