The recently completed renovations to Leominster High School were applauded at the Grand Opening on Saturday, November 2. The high school, which was built exactly 50 years ago, was upgraded with a new heating system, lighting, air conditioning, energy-saving windows, tile floors, ceilings and a new state-of-the-art science laboratory wing.

Mayor Dean J. Mazzarella noted that many people said to him, “Wow! I can’t believe it’s the same building.”

The $44 million project designed by Lamoureux Pagano Associates came in on time and under budget. Jack McCarthy, executive director of Massachusetts School Building Authority, which will be funding approximately $30 million of the cost, noted that MSBA’s mission is to build flexible and sustainable facilities. “This building far exceeds that mission,” he said. “The science labs are outstanding, first-rate, first-class. And this kind of construction, an occupied renovation, is one of the hardest,” he said.

Daedalus Projects, Inc. was the OPM and W.T. Rich Company, Inc. was the Construction Manager for the project.
